USB TypeUltrasonic Level Gauge
2025-12-19
Product Introduction:
Utilizing the characteristic of ultrasonic waves reflecting off the surface of liq-uids or solids, ultrasonic level gauges are created for measuring the height ordistance of liquids and solids, UItrasonic level gauges are divided into twotypes: ultrasonic liquid level gauges for measuring liquid levels and ultrasonicmaterial level gauges for measuring the position of solids or powders. Themain components of an ultrasonic level gauge are the ultrasonic sensor andthe transmitter, with output options of 4-20mA (+HART)or RS485 (Mod-bus-RTU protocol).
Principle
Utilizing the piezoelectric effect of ceramics to achieve mutual conversion between acous-
tic and electrical energy, the sensor is therefore also called a piezoelectric transducer.
An ultrasonic sensor is a reversible transducer whose main materials are piezoelectric(electrostrictive) and magnetostrictive substances. Among piezoelectric materials, met-al-oxide piezoelectric ceramics such as PZT or lithium tantalate aluminum are predomi-nantly used; because of their reversibility, they serve as both the transmitter and the re-ceiver in ultrasonic level meters.
A piezoelectric wafer made of piezoelectric ceramic exhibits the piezoelectric effect: when excited by a pulsed voltage (oscillation), thewafer vibrates mechanically and generates an ultrasonic wave (i.e., it acts as the transmitter), This ultrasonic wave has g0od directivityand propagates along a well-defined ray path.
After being reflected from the surface of a liquid or solid, the ultrasonic wave returns to the wafer, which converts the ultrasonic vibra-tion (mechanical oscillation) back into an electrical oscillation (an electrical pulse), In this way the wafer acts as the ultrasonicreceiver, transforming the mechanical energy of the ultrasound into electrical energy-an electrical signal. The time interval between the transmitted ultrasonic pulse and the received pulse produced by the piezoelectric wafer is the ultrasonictransit time; this time is directly proportional to the distance between the ultrasonicsensor (also called the transducer) and the surfaceof the liquid or material.
Level meters have the following characteristics:
Level meters have the following characteristics:
Output types: 4-20 mA (with HART),relay/switching quantity, RS485/Modbus, USB (for debug-ging), etc.
Local display: Most come with LCD display showing real-time liquid level, status, and echostrength; some have echo chart recording and diagnostic functions.Signal processing: Temperature compensation,filtering/averaging,echo gate setting, auto-matic calibration, and multi-point calibration, etc.Measurement principle: Time of Flight(TOF), which involves emitting ultrasonic pulses and cal-culating the liquid level height based on the round-trip time of the echo.Measurement types: Top-mounted non-contact type,inserted/wave-guided assisted type (forreducing blind zones or narrow openings), or hybrid type with extended rod/protective tube.Measurementrange: Commonly from 0.2m to 6 m (short range)to 10-15 m (long range), de-pending on the model.Accuracy and resolution: Typical accuracy of l-10 mm,with a resolution usually at the 1mm level (higher-end models can offer better performance).
